No. J-Pop is simply normal pop music, but in a dialect you don't understand.
So, tell me, why do you listen to it?
Why is it even considered a genre of its own?

Stylistically, just from the fact that it is from another country gives it some nuances that I enjoy. The emotions, trends, etc. differ. For example, how regionally, hip hop differs from the South, NYC, WEst Coast etc. It's all still hip hop, but even if for the sole reason of the artists in that area working closely with each other, musical differences arise. Like accents in a sense.
That being said, there is something about JPop which I enjoy. It has a fun sound to it.

well it is more over the top and the singer dont really show off to much because in japan there is a huge karaoke demand so alot of the more populer artist try not to show off in there songs so it make it easyer for the person at the end of the karaoke machine. that is also why the songs sound alot more "fun" than north american pop because they want that sell at the karaoke bar, that is partly it

Can't stand it, but then again, I can't stand pop for that matter either so it does all even out in the end, lol

I love it tho I dont know many artists. The ones I do listen to/know of are:
Ayumi Hamasaki
BoA
Utada Hikaru
I'm not sure if Dir En Grey is considered j..POP..more like Rock/Metal or whatnot. XD
Also, I dont remember those other 2 artists but the ones that did songs for Final Fantasy X and X-2 (mainly X-2)I THINK one of them was Yoko Kanno
