Eh, I really wouldn't want to live to be 1000. D: Or even to 100 really. Though being "immortal" does sound cool and I admit, I would like to see, but... It's just that odd doubt in the back of my mind that I would regret doing the whole "reverse ageing" thing.

I wouldn't mind. I wouldn't mind more time to see more things. Some people might get bored eventually, but the world is always expanding and growing.

I wouldn't mind if my body stayed 20 years old.

Living to be 1,000 could be dangerous. Can you imagine the number of candles on your birthday cake!

RPG_Masterz

Are they able to even eat their cake by that time.

flamingmonkey

Should be able to. The idea is that you regenerate your body through various techniques and stem cells are one such avenue. In any case, even now we have false teeth readily available. Whether or not you'd want to eat it is another thing entirely.

A bullet could still kill you.... But anyways my opinion
ARE YOU MAD can you even imagine the chaos that will cuase!!!
the more humans the quicker the planet will die and when that happens humans would have killed themselves along with everything else... OR if humans would proceed with this idiotic 'plan' make sure that people cant have any more babies so we don't screw this wonderfull earth up even more.
Well thats about my opinion.

but read this quote:

Dr Jeya Prakash claims he has reversed the ageing process by injecting himself and his wife with a human growth hormone which has improved their memories and removed wrinkles. He now plans to open a clinic offering the anti-ageing treatment.

The technology is apparently already there. I imagine in the next 10 years, this will be availabe to the public. Even though it may be horribly expensive, it will be there.

(btw, Demontenchi. This technology is designed to keep you at a young age constantly. So yeah.. when you're 800, you'll look like you're 24 still. :D

Not quite, Fantasy Fan. That would Methuselah at 969 years old. Moses died at 120 years old. Read the bible before you speak of it. :P

You'll forgive me if I stay skeptical about this "miracle drug".

Aging is the natural process of mutation in an individual. "Growth hormones" can't reverse that.

How about a deal with the devil? If you die, you'll burn in hell.

There is a reason we die at the age we currently do. Its called to stem the population. Right now, with our extended lives the world is way too overpopulated. The things we do are completely unnatural. Humans in nature should rarely brake age 40- 60 at the latest. Past 100 years. How much would that back up our amount of people? The environment would not be able to take the pressure.

El Wiseguy

Indeed it would create a lot of issues. The world would then have to learn to care for every ageing person. Sure, we still care for a lot of ageing people but not on the level it could be at. Then again, if you stayed youthful then you would have to keep more jobs for more people and then inflation would occur and the world economy would suffer.

At the same time, the world would adjust just like it always has... we'd never truly know what would happen until such a situation should occur.

I am just saying. Look how many people are in poverty at this moment. Look how many countries don't have enough food or income to feed their own people. With the current technology we have it is impossible to sustain a massive increase in people.

Maybe if we could have some sort of pill that fed people meals. Or something similar. Or maybe if we had colonies on the moon or mars. But the earth, despite being very stress-able could not take it.

Imagine as more and more people get that pill or therapy. More and more people get extended life. Is that going to stop the normal population from growing?

Maybe a few people getting this would not affect the world. But as soon as this is released. Half of every first-world country is going to back in line to get this. 10 or 20 ancient people. But 10,000,000 of earth's growing 6 billion? Only to have their kids given the same at birth. Its like pointing a gun at lesser developed nations and the earth itself.

*I hope that wasn't too off or hard to understand, I was thinking multiple things and Ideas so all the ideas kind of merged together*

i think living for centuries sounds romantic but after awhile i would just get really tired and seeing the same things happen over and over again.

El Wiseguy

I understand what you're saying but at the same time the only reason there are so many people in poverty is because of the mis-management of their respective governments.

If technology is going to increase then I'm sure the ability to sustain a higher percentage of life at a higher quality will also be there.

ZeroEverlast

Why is this even being debated?

So what if it affects the rest of the world? Do you honestly think the people going for this treatment will stop and think "Hmm, will my living a touch longer have nefarious effects on Third World nations?" Even if they did, do you truly think they'd submit to their own mortality in the name of morality?

...At the same time the only reason there are so many people in poverty is because of the mis-management of their respective governments.
I think you were probably trying to prove a point so you exaggerated the situation a bit, but if you honestly believe that, I feel sad for you.
