Chapter 1
It was cold, dreary and dark by the ocean that December night. Midnight was standing on the shore looking out into the night. She held her necklace in her hand. She was lost. Not physically lost like little toddlers in the mall but inside………she had no one. The only ones where Talim and Ana. The sixteen year old had been through a lot in the past year. The necklace she held in the hand was of a silver key.
“Midnight!” she heard Ana’s voice shouting.
“Ana. How are you?” Midnight said softly turning towards her friend.
“I’m good. Why are you out here? Why aren’t you in bed?”
“Why do you ask so many questions?” Midnight asked laughing softly.
They were silent for a few minutes.
Talim walked up to the two. “Come on, girls.” Talim said, “It is really late.”
Talim and Ana raced to the little house they all lived in together, while Midnight walked behind. She looked at the key still on her palm. Suddenly a man in a black coat appeared and grabbed her by an arm.
“Ah!” Midnight shouted, but Ana and Talim were too far away to hear.
“Who are you?!” Midnight shouted, “What do you want, you creep?!”
“You don’t remember anything do you?” the man said, “Humph, what a waist.” He lifted his hand and was about to strike. But then another man appeared with a sword and fought the man with Midnight in his grip.
The first man disappeared. The second looked over his shoulder to look back at her. His hood was open just enough for her to see his blue eyes.
“The key.” was all the man said and then faded away into the darkness.
Midnight looked back down into her hands.
“Midnight!” Ana called, “Come on Slow Poke!”
“ I’m coming!” Midnight shouted.

Chapter 2
That night, Midnight didn’t sleep at all. Who was the man? What did he need? And why her? “Midnight?” Ana asked walking into the room.
“Yes, Ana?” Midnight asked.
“What’s going on?” Ana asked, “You’ve been acting bizarre lately. Is something troubling you?”
“The key……” Midnight said, “The key must mean something.”
“Who said?”
“The guy who saved me, with the blue eyes.”
“Blue eyed man? Who in the world are you talking about?!”
“In the world….he’s not from this one! Maybe another one?”
“Please! Will you tell me-?”
“Thanks Ana!” Midnight said running out the door.
“You’re……welcome?”
Midnight ran out the door and there he was. “You!” she shouted.
He turned his head to look at her.
“You are you?”
“That is of now importance.” he said, turning his head back around.
“What do you mean?” she asked, “That man…….what did he mean…I don’t remember?”
“You’re true past.”
“Huh?”
The man was silent.
“Then were do you come in?” Midnight asked, “In my past?”
“Just a figment of your memory, humph, as if you had one.”
“And the key?”
She felt to her neck to see if it was there. But it wasn’t.
The man lift his hand. He had it.
“It’s a pretty piece of metal.” he said, “But it holds power.” He through it up and snatched in his hands.
“Power?”
“This is but a fragment of the key blade.”
