Punk Music...SUCKS
a) If I here one more crackhead screaming "anarchy," I'm going to piss on his floor and shit in his bed. Because, dude, you're just unemployable.
b) If I hear one more successful professional screaming "anarchy," I'm going to walk into his office, piss on his carpet, and shit on his desk. Because, dude, you're biting the hand that feeds you. And that's not cool.
c) The moral - get a clue. Punk music sucks!

Rancid? Casualties? Come ON.

But, come on. Who can't relate to "Too Drunk To Fuck".

c'mon... not all punk is politics. Just the boring stuff :D

He means emo crap right? Oh, no. Sex pistols? Wait... what's that band called where they sing about 'a rat'. That is annoying.

ArkKnight

Actually I'd rather listen to Emo than punk because it is more musical.

Good Charlotte, Simple Plan, Jimmy Eat World, Boxcar Racer. Fucking dumb, yes, but, better than real punk.

Vanity

Define "real" punk.

El Wiseguy
10-25-2007, 11:28 PM
Probably the Ramones.

ArkKnight
10-26-2007, 12:40 AM
Real punk is anything that sounds like low-quality recorded, musically simplistic, fast tempo, anti-establishment rock music.

I hate streetpunk fags.

Anarcho-punk, Oi!, Crust punk, hardcore punk. That is real punk.
And Sex Pistols, Ramones suck too, because they started it.

POP!

We call all that pop, kid. It's fucking pop. All of that "scene" crap. Go back to hot topic and tote your fashion. I'll be laughing when they're following the next trend and preaching it like they've never done anything else.

I was referencing DK, but not because they're awesome, generally, but because that song is awesome. I'd rather break something than generically whine about my broken heart. And that is not emo music. That is scene music. There is a distinction that has been lost with mass media. Lost.

Just the POPular mainstreamed dribble.

As it is pop.

TIP: If you bought it in the mall, it's probably going to be pop.

El Wiseguy
10-26-2007, 01:46 AM
I'm happy to say, I don't shop at the mall! Not because I'm a non-conformist (because non-conformists are actually just conformists to their own cause of non-conformity) but because I don't give a crap! :D

Vanity
10-26-2007, 01:55 AM
I shop for music at the mall and I love being a conformist.

Pop is great, though you have to be selective and not feed into commercial propaganda. And there's really nothing anti-social about the Ramones.

Hey ho, let's go.

El Wiseguy
10-26-2007, 02:08 AM
The real reason I don't shop at the mall is because I don't like to shop... period. The only time you'll see me there is if I absolutely need something that I can't get anywhere else.

Vanity
10-26-2007, 02:10 AM
Shopping alone is no fun, but with someone who shares a mutual interest or with the right girl, it can be quite enjoyable.

Even if you don't end up buying anything after all.

Apart from contraception.

I don't buy music. Haha.

But a lot of it I couldn't find to buy if I wanted to.

Anyway, my point here was not to say that all pop sucks, but to re define the genres a bit. We all would agree that some sorts of genres suck. But please refrain from considering certain bands the definition of a genre because you have heard them most often - in this case they are most likely a pop sub-genre of the music you are criticizing and they are hardly the core of it.

points for recognizing that paradoxes are life (as is anarchy to some extent), but you're still gay.

Uhh, pop?

No. Sham 69? Crust punk? Do you even know what that is? Pop? What the hell are you smoking?

Oh, and Dead Kennedy merchandise can be bought at Hot Topic.

Dude, you don't get it. Some screaming music is good. Like- I'm so Sick by Flyleaf, If you could See into my soul by Silverstien, The Pretender by Foo Fighters, etc. It doesn't matter if they scream- If the words mean something then that's that.

Flyleaf, Foo Fighters, Silverstien?

That's not punk.

This thread is about punk. Not screaming vocals.
Go listen to some Rancid, or the Casualties. The you'll know what I am saying.

Yes lol

How can there not be a definition?

If it is a word, it must have a definition.

Wikipedia is a good place for that.

I've known many punks, as well. Some were teen girls that liked pop punk, others were male alcoholics and drug attics that wore tight pants, studs, etc, etc.

Kashmire

Tight pants = Emo

Then again most of the Goth/Punk people have combined into 'emo'.
Lucky for me i'm a pirate.

The people that call themselves punk and make it a way of life, like those people who live on the streets and refuse to use shampoo/ soap because they dont believe in business, should be gassed.

A. I never said I didn't like some pop music; I simply suggested that pop branches of a genre are not a just definition of the core genre in question.

B. Who said I own the merchandise? lawls. Like I said. I don't buy music. In fact, the only band merchandise I own are a few vintage tee shirts I picked up at The Goodwill. Holes in em and everything XD

Kashmire

Tight pants = not just emo.

Pray tell me, what other fagg0ts except emo's would want to wear pants that squeeze the oxygen out of there lungs while having some crappy spongebob squarepants boxers hang over there 'stylish jeans'?

Goths and EMO. This is dumb! I guess whoever started this crap isn't diverse. People like that disgust me. If you don't like some music, don't listen to it. In other words this thread is a waste of space. I just posted this to say, " Stop forcing your ignorance on others." Screw stereotypes.

There was no flaw if there was playful satire.
