Development was just announced, it's gon' take at least a year before it sees the light of day.

But let the mystery guessing begin! If it'll be full 3D or back to the good old school stuff that is 2D. Or a hybrid/cel-shade, ala DBZ Budoukai.

Character designs rendered in 3D will suck monkey ass, in my opinion.

Now this game is going to be developed by capcom USA and not capcom Japan, I fear this game will be in either in 2D or 2.5D aka using 3D characters but keeping them in a 2D platform. Plus making a the next true Street Fighter you have to keep it somewhat 2D anyways hopefully they do a great job and i can be happy with it.

I agree, a street fighter that was 3D would not be a street fighter, it would be Tekken with street fighter characters, we have enough 3D fighters, I think it would be nice to see a 2D fighter that wasn't some sort of anniversary collection or some such. Oh and Marvel vs Capcom 2 was the best game on the xbox, even though it was a port of the dream cast version.

yea, cell shading would be nice. I love both 2D and 3D streetfighter games. One problem, I don't like playing with 2D charcters. Yet, a Hadoken looks like crap in 2D. Saw this preview on gametrailers. People believe it's cell shading.

It looks like SFII but SFAlpha'ized. I like it, gameplay seems to stay true to the old school. Now I wonder what changes are made to the system. Since it looks pretty old school, it's gotta have something new to make it relevant in this gaming generation.

Thanks for the link. Still, it's not totally 2d. As ken upercuts ryu, the screen zooms in, giving a 3D feel. The game is roughly 2d, but it switches to high quality 3D graphics very fast. In other words the 3d work and 2D graphics overlap each other. The 3D graphics aren't as noticeable as Smah Bros. It's a real good Hybrid game.
