this anime loses alot in the translation, it is also has so much fan service and references to animes and Japanese tv shows and some videos games basically most people are watching this to get there moe fix no more no less. this anime is about on the same level as Bo X7 (Bobobobo bobo bo) to many references to Japanese culture and stuff from the 80's that the average anime watcher losses.

The anime is good if you can catch the references. My favorite's Konata, because she's so funny and silly :P I don't see her type too often in anime, even though today's generation breeds a lot of girls like her (myself included).

I forgot if it was episode 15 or 16, but they had a scene where Konata cosplayed as Haruhi :3 (same voice actress, by the way)

And although the pace is quite different to The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, it's also quite awesome, haven't watched Excel Saga so I can't comment on that.

the AGE OF CONSENT IN JAPAN IN ALL PREFECTURES IS 18 that 13 is from very old laws from other Prefectures. Hell in the US some state laws have the age of consent to be 16. Also teenage prostitution has little to do with it hell we have had a boom in teenage prostitution here in the states.
