View Full Version : So, I like this guy...

Yeah, well, I do. And, I've liked him before, but then I got over him and we were just friends. And now I'm realizing that I like him again. We hug all the time, and our personalities just really click. He broke up with his girlfriend, so he might like me, but I doubt it, I think he only thinks of me as his little buddy. I really don't know what to do, I've actually never felt quite like this about someone... And, I don't know what to do... So, any suggestions?
KatandMouse

Wait, wait, wait... Rewind. Who do you like??? I mean... I think I know... but I'm not a hundred percent sure...

You're asking for suggestions, but you didn't state what you wanted.
Are you looking to get romantically involved?
From my experience, it seems like girls usually have a hard time deciding whether or not they want to take it further in fear of losing what's already there. I can sort of understand why it'd be a tough decision.
If you're already set on wooing him, then are you asking us for seduction advice?
tsuyoshi
03-16-2007, 03:36 AM
this is my opinion, you dont have to agree, but if you like the guy you should tell him your feelings for him, it may be a little hard cuz you've been friends for a while (probably), just come clean, and express your true feelings, again you dont have to agree
dont be too anxious
KatandMouse
03-16-2007, 03:59 AM
:lmao: Knew it. ^-^
So... what exactly DO you want? I mean; to tell, or not to tell. That's the question, right?
Maybe he doesn't think of you as just his little buddy. But maybe that's not true, either.
If you want my honest advice (you probably don't... but I'll give it anyway... : ]) tell him. If he's really the way you make him seem in your hour long talks about him, then if he doesn't like you as more than a friend it won't matter. And if he does... then... well... then something might happen--which is what you want, isn't it?
z311y
03-16-2007, 04:46 AM
I think it might make it weird between us. But, I really like him, its kind of strange, cause I've never felt quite this way about anyone. I guess what I want isto know whether I should tell him, or not. I mean, I like him, a lot, but what if he doesn't talk to me or whatever? I don't think he would, but... AHH!
KatandMouse
03-16-2007, 04:50 AM
Tell him, tell him, tell him. I know you think the whole thing between Sano and me is stupid--but need I point out how that worked out? You know EXACTLY what happened. What's to say the same thing couldn't happen between you and Guy X, as you've insisted upon calling him. ^-^

Just suddenly kiss him one day if backs off then no if he goes for it then well thats your business.

Um.. Static??? I think that might be kinda weird...
Kiddoh
03-16-2007, 05:24 AM
It doesn't matter what anyone says on here. You're going to ask him out anyways or something similar. He's either going to reject you, you two go out with each other, or you two go out with each other and he dumps you for someone else/ you dump him for someone else.
If you young-ins would just stop rushing shit, then maybe things would turn out how you fantasize. If you honestly want things to work out, be patient.
And you!
@Static: You! You-you-you! It's advice like that that indirectly gives highschool gals a bad reputation. "Go and kiss him one day," you gotta be kidding me! Surely you jest; are you a trickster of some sort?
Terrible advice! I am baffled and bewildered by the amount of fairies you killed saying that.
EDIT: My apologies for the rant. Static's advice reminded me of a myspace chainmail that I just could not hate enough.

To be entirely honest, I think Kiddoh's advice pales in comparison to staticgrave666's.
Surprise kisses shouldn't lead to awkwardness. Or, at the very least, a gentleman would do his utmost to make the lady feel comfortable, even if the kiss was misplaced.
I'll write something more meaningful later.

Chicks:
Dumb bitches that are too clingy and... dumb and... bitchy.
Girls:
Dumb and clingy, but not bitchy.
Women:
Capable and smart
Dykes:
Capable, smart, but won't have sex with you ever.
Bitches from hell:
They're bitchy, smart, capable, bitchy, and total bitches; but they fuck like a minx.

A sophomore huh that would make him around 15 right? Well, the daring rout is to kiss him but since you're to shy, why don't you just talk to him. In my experience indirect approaches end up in mixed messages and complicates things. Just sit down and talk to him its that simple.
KatandMouse
03-17-2007, 08:09 PM
Uh-huh. Do what Static says. (Not like I haven't told you that a million times.)

Here's what I think so far of everyone's input.
tsuyoshi, animelvrgurl & Sanosuke: Just... no. That would just be utterly selfish and inconsiderate. Basically, it's forcing responsibility on the other person. "I've told you that I liked you, so if you wind up breaking my heart, it'll all be your fault and I hopes it haunts you forever."
animelvrgurl & Sanosuke: It """worked out""" [the idea of comparing this to an actual romance is so preposterous that it deserves triple quotation marks] between animelvrgurl and Sanosuke because they were who they were, with the special cirumstances attached. To put it bluntly, unless Sexykins and her fancy are both also affection-desperate intellect-deficient dweebs, I doubt it'll turn out the same.
staticgrave666: This would be ideal in Hollywood, but is inefficient at best in reality. It's funny how you mention mixed messages and complications as a result of a, as you put it, "indirect approach". In fact, what you state is quite false; whereas the opposite is quite true. Kisses out of the blue lead to much more emotional stress than straightforward communication. Not to mention most people would find it highly inappropriate.
Kiddoh: I'm sorry if this offends, but have you ever had a girlfriend? I'm genuinely curious, and I honestly believe the answer is no. Or at least, reading your posts, I get the impression you have no idea what you're writing about. Apologies in advance for being honest.

I wasn't trying to be mean.
Yeah, I figured you just weren't thinking.
Zell, how often do you see this guy?
ZeroEverlast
03-23-2007, 06:14 AM
Okay, than what should she do, Zero?
Talk to him normally. No need to take him to a seperate room in order to talk in private. I think anyone with a minimum level of social competency should know that this kind of action will only lead to awkwardness and general 'what ze fuck, what was so important that you had to lead me away from the rest of the crowd for?' glances.
It's a bad idea to confess for reasons I'm too lazy to further elaborate on. Either way, Sexykins got my message, so it's pointless to reiterate everything here.
Nonetheless, do what you want. Live and learn.
Who knows, it might actually work out.

03-23-2007, 06:17 AM
I see. Well, I'm sure she will be happy to tell you why she can't just tell him in front of everyone. It has to do with some rules. But since she's not on right now, you'll have to wait until tomorrow... if she wants to tell...
staticgrave666
03-23-2007, 06:18 AM
So, basically your telling her to figure it out?
Thats not exactly advice..
To be honest, love is nothing more then a chemical reaction, even if things don't workout with this guy there will probably be others

That was hardly called for, Static. If anything, what I said should have been taken as a compliment; as I placed Zelly higher shelf than the rest of you seem to have done.

Meh, it's all in the PMs I sent her. I do hope you'll forgive me for not posting it here.

How you interpret the mood of a post is entirely your fault. I was not trying to be mean, nor was it a personal attack on Zelly. I was explaining why my advice happens to be more different compaired to everyone else's.
And now here's the thing; if what you interpretted from my post is not true, then why are you offended? The only logical way you could possibly be offended is if it were true/you think it to be true.
So perhaps... Damn Static that was kinda mean, we are talking about Zelly remeber?
@Zero: Nah, that's way too young, but thanks anyways. ;O

You have got to be kidding me...
Look, there! I changed my little mood picture to something happy, now will you stop interpreting all my posts as me flying off the handle?! God-damn!

Kiddoh, it just seemed like you were referring to me as, a lower class perhaps? I know you don't actually feel that way, so I appreciate the issue being cleared up.
K@, I was never just going to tell him. I can't, won't and shouldn't. I don't know what I will do, but it won't be that abrupt.
Static, I see him, once a week, sometimes more? Also, I thank you for coming to my aid, though it deemed unnecessary.
Zero, your a pal, thanks.

There's the direct approach, and the indirect one, Zell. You've got to pick one or the other.
Do you want this guy, or not?
El Wiseguy
03-24-2007, 01:02 AM
All of the "does he like or not" stuff goes out the window when you get older and realize it doesn't matter.
If I like a girl I'll just tell her. Nuff said and there we have it. No beating around the bush. :P
z311y
03-24-2007, 03:35 AM
True, but (what do we call him? Wisey?) I'm not at that age yet, nor is he.
El Wiseguy
03-24-2007, 04:30 AM
You may not be 'at that age' yet but it doesn't prohibit you from acting in a more mature manner. Though, I've found you're quite mature for your age.
z311y
03-24-2007, 04:38 AM
Aww, thanks (insert name I am supposed to call you).
When I think about it, telling him wouldn't really change our relationship, unless he liked me. Also, Zero has addressed his concers for this approach. If I were to tell him however, there is the problem of opportunity. And, you know, trusting that he wouldn't find that weird, and would not tell everyone. Though, if he is a terrific as I think, he wouldn't. :)
El Wiseguy
03-24-2007, 04:41 AM
Well, just because the cat is out of the bag doesn't necessarily mean things have to change at that moment. You two could discuss it and see how you both feel and if you're both ready for a relationship past what you currently have.
If you sat down and really discussed things maybe you could figure something out. Relationships aren't just "this way" or "that way". It's not so black and white. Just talk about what could be and where you could see yourself with him.
Then again, this approach's success would really be dependent upon his maturity.

ZeroEverlast

As far as I'm concerned, Kiddoh's a heterosexual male. Why would he be trying at all for a guy?
Also: to all the people who have been suggesting a confession, where do you believe that will lead?

Well I say just ask him. You could just ask a friend to ask him who he likes. Or you could just wait and see what he does.:)

04-16-2007, 12:21 AM
If you feel like you really need to tell him, I suppose you should.
Though, in my extensive experience, I've found that it's better just to let things bloom without forcing them. Besides, it's so much more interesting when you're at the "what if" stage. That's the best part. Don't break it apart by forcing yourself into the "next stage" part.
The only really romantic things in life occur when you're not expecting or planning on them to.
