Well, this site for the last few weeks has been giving me the 403 forbidden from my home PC's. I don't know why at all. Whether my IP may have been banned (although my account not?) is questionable.
If I knew the site was down, that wouldn't be a problem. But when I have to use a proxy (and a really fucking slow one I might add) to view a site that is accessible to all but few (as I have heard some others have or have had the same problem as me) just really sucks.
Is there even any defined problem here? Or something that can be done (Neil?).
Meh, well. Good night AT.

Well, first off don't use a proxy. They're pretty much useless. That may solve a few problems. :P
This isn't a problem with the website, its with your ISP or computer. The websites dns was changed, my ISP updates their dns cache very quickly, so the site on the new server (new dns) was visible to me very quickly.
For other people it would have taken anything up to 24 hours, but they wouldn't have seen any downtime, just a notice on the old server that the forums were closed until their dns was updated.
The problem you have had was the dns for the old server was cached somewhere, either your computer or your ISP, so you have been still trying to access the website on the old server even though it wasn't there anymore, hence the 403 error.

Still, ditch the proxy. lawl, it's useless. :P

Well, to be fair, it allowed him to access AnimeTalk and post.

Without it, I can't get to the site. Zero is right.
Is there any way to fix this. You told me the problem, now what do I do?

Hhmm, have you tried completely getting rid of all your cookies? Go ahead and clear out all data from Internet Explorer. If that doesn't work try this:
Unplug your router/modem. Give it 30 seconds. Then plug in the modem first, give it about 10 seconds and then your router next and then let them go for about 30 seconds to reboot. Then:
Start Menu > Run > Type the word "command" and hit enter.
Now, type this:
ipconfig /release
Then, let it release. Now type this:
ipconfig /renew
Give it a sec and let it renew everything.
That proxy may allow you to make it in, and that's a good thing. But if you're using a proxy for anonymity then that's why I'm telling you to ditch it.

I knew about clearing the cookies. That was the first thing I did.
I will try to IP config it now.
edit: and no, I am not using the proxy to be anonymous (although I am using the hidemyass website.)
In this situation, it is only to be present here.
edit v2: No go on the ip config. Nor the unplugging.

hhmmm. You may just have to wait until your ISP figures it out (as Neil said) or there's something else up... hhmmm lemme think.

It has been weeks. Chances of ISP figuring it out at this point?

That's the thing, it should have by now. Have you tried using a different browser?
Siziol

-_- speaking of doing that...
I did... on my personal computer... my disc deleted Home edition, as it was supposed to do, but fucked up while installing Pro. Which really really really fucking sucks. So as of now, I am OS less. and pretty much sol until I get some professional work done on it.
But yeah, I am really starting to get used to the 2b and hour rate of this damn proxy :p
atleast the rest of the intrawebs works fine without it.

hhmmm I'm still thinkin' about this. It's probably something really simple. :P

Windows sucks eh?
Yeah, a lot of people like to say that.
If it sucks so bad, why don't you write a better OS?
Oh, oh, wait. You can't.
EDIT: Siziol, swallow your pride; call tech support.
El Wiseguy
03-15-2007, 02:41 AM
I don't think it's a matter of calling tech support. I would literally be considered tech support... it's my occupation. :P
Either way, call your isp and tell them your problem. They'll be able to tell you for sure if it's them or not. They may deny it though, but you can make them do anything you want if you're demanding enough. lol

If I had as much money as bill gates i could make sure my OS wasn't shit, whats his excuse? Look, call me old fashioned but if I'm shelling out $200+ dollars for an OS I want it to work.

Gates started out in his parents' garage without a dime to his name. Bill Gates's fortune, as a shareholder of Microsoft, doesn't have any direct correlation with the quality of the product.
You probably couldn't even code a DOS-emulator, let alone a full-fledged standalone OS.
I don't know where you live or where you go shopping, but WinXP Professional does not cost 200$+.
Either way, I wasn't questioning you directly, it was more of a question thrown out there to all the Windows bashers.

I'm not a windows basher I simply have had a negative experience with there product. (which is why I put the my opinion next to it). Further more how the hell do you know what I can and can't do, a monkey with a keyboard could manually program the original windows OS. That whole rags to riches shit doesn't impress me Bill Gates wasn't poor in fact, he quit collage.

It's funny how you're blaming Windows when this almost definitely not an OS problem.

Sigh. It was a misunderstanding, you moron.
Yes, people are going to argue if you go around spouting this "lol Windows sux" crap.
And if you're not discussing Siziol's problem, you're posting off topic, which is against the rules.

Look, I apologize for getting of topic ok , further more I apologize if I offended any windows users. However I personally don't like windows and I added the (my opinion) next to the windows sux. I have nothing against people who like windows it's just not my cup of tea. I'm no mod but I'm relatively sure calling me a moron is against the rules as well , you realize I'm being ridiculed for my opinion on a forum. If thats the way things are done here I can just as easily go some where else.

Then... go?
Nobody is begging you to stay.
Do as you please; you're the one who choses to be offended by something this trivial.
Further more how the hell do you know what I can and can't do, a monkey with a keyboard could manually program the original windows OS.
The original Windows was merely a GUI for MS-DOS. It was somewhat simplistic in comparison, but nonetheless written in assembly.
I don't know who you're trying to impress, but it's quite evident you lack both the skill to code in ASM and the knowledge of x86 structure required to undertake this kind of task.
And you're right, the rags to riches thing isn't a very compelling argument, but at least Gates was successful. You'll forgive me for saying, but you really don't have the credentials to be downplaying the achievements of others.

You aren't helping the topic, and I just don't like you. So, please keep your mouth shut. Or follow this simple rule - STFU or GTFO.
Yeah, Wise, are you referring to yourself as tech support for the computer itself or the Intrawebz problems or both? Cause any solutions to either would be wonderful. And yes, it probably is something simple (of both problems).

Reset your router, perhaps? I'm not sure if unplugging it is the equivalent, but my router has a reset button on it. It's one of those meticulously-conceiled ones that you have to push with a toothpick.

Zero, I have already done that (simply forgot to mention it). That was one of the first things I did. No go.
