I don't get what's going on.

Where's the punchline?

I really don't either, but I do like the quirky art style.

bedsoraroxas
02-27-2007, 09:43 PM
meh. i don't really think there are any punchlines, zero.

its just about music and how it affects your mood/what types of people listen to it. . .

i got grounded for the "We are all on Drugs" part because it said "fuck". my parents are like "OMGWTFBBQHAX. . .you know that you're not supposed to talk like that. . .do your friends. . .i think that because the drawing is about music that this language must come from your music, so we're gonna take away your ipod so that you will suffer because you can't go a day without listening to music. . .MUUHAHAHAHHA!"

agghhh. and i was also banned from the computer, but ohwell. i also have to check my email.

Where's the punchline?

The choice in bands...?

On a more serious note, it's not bad, but...doesn't seem to go anywhere.

bedsoraroxas
02-28-2007, 08:59 PM
blen. condemn me for the music i listen to. . .but its just me.

yeah. i know it goes nowhere. . .it was just a scribble that i put together. maybe I'll do something more with this concept later. . .hmm idk

Your hands and feet are pointy...

bedsoraroxas
02-28-2007, 11:22 PM
. . .its called chibi.

and i'm not saying that all chibi is drawn like this with pointy feet and hands. . .there are many different types of chibi.

I was kidding about the music comment :p

I (did at least) do a comic, so I know it's a fair amount of work, but you'd be amazed how quickly it just gets easier and looks better.

bedsoraroxas

oh lawl. i couldn't tell, mate.

yeah i really need to draw more often so i can standardize my drawing techniques. ehh i'm going all big-worded on you guys!!! :lmao:

what ever happened to that comic, it was there for a while, then you stopped making it, probably because you didn't do enough strips with me in it

No this is big-worded.

"This composition, made during the Northern European Renaissance, uses chiaroscuro to help add add and illusion of depth, value, and roundness to the once was seemingly flat subject matter."

And the correct word to use over 'standardize' is 'generalize.'

i was joking. usually when i talk like that to my friends, they don't get what I'm talking about. that would probably explain the lmao smiley. . . -_-
yeahokay, mrs. bryan. generalize, ma'am.

ZeroEverlast
03-02-2007, 01:16 AM
In this context, the term 'standardize' is preferable to 'generalize' since she's talking about her drawing techniques.

You don't 'generalize' drawing techniques. You make them conform to a standard, hence standardize.

bedsoraroxas, don't apologize for being right.

Kiddoh
03-02-2007, 06:14 AM
Her style is already standardized.
If she uses chibi's, she will benifit from generalizations.

Standardized = Everything is at the same level = Bare Minimum
Generalized = Stereotyping = universally applicable = general concept

ZeroEverlast
03-02-2007, 06:19 AM
Um, will you take "no" for an answer?

When you generalize, you extract multiple sets of data from specific parameters and proceed to make broad inferences according to the average and median samples.

When you standardize, you choose a fixed model to which you conform all your other samples.

If it'll help you better understand, standardizing is very similar to generalizing with a specific goal.

Hence, she'd be standardizing. Do you still insist on disagreeing?

Kiddoh
03-02-2007, 07:35 AM
Kekekekekeke.
In order for you to be correct, she'll have to be willing to develope her own style and not go based on stereotypical anime styles.
Because the vast majority of people on this forum try to draw anime/manga, they're better off with generalizations. Afterall, that's pretty much what anime is.
Standardizing is just like generalization except, less specific.

Are you sure you're not talking about consistency?

ZeroEverlast
03-02-2007, 08:06 AM
Are you dense?

If it'll help you better understand, standardizing is very similar to generalizing with a specific goal.

Standardizing is just like generalization except, less specific.

WOW.

Also, your argument makes absolutely no sense and is pulling completely meaningless data into the debate that is "generalization vs standardization". Generalization would be to make all her drawings uniform, to a degree specified by the average on a hypothetical "quality of sketch as a function of time" curve.

No, this has nothing to do with consistency. As you can read from her post, she is trying to achieve generalization around a specific objective.

That is called standardization. I recommend you crack open a dictionary.

Do you know what titration curves are? Probably not, huh.

Either way, what the deuce is 'kekekekekeke'?

Kiddoh
03-02-2007, 09:12 AM
Look it up in the dictionary. Or better yet...
Google-it.<--- That's the proper use of "Google it."

If you want to talk about meaningless, your effort to enforce what you think are other people's opinions would be a topic of dicussion.

And why are you trying to involve chemistry in this conversation?
Are you like... a dork with a short-man complex?

You were killed by a zombie. Accept it.
Basically with school getting harder all of a sudden and losing my net I'm on hiatus :p

As for this most excellent argument going on, might a suggest both take a few minutes with Mary Five Fingers? It'll relieve tension.

Brain cell deficiency?

I recommend you crack open a dictionary.

Look it up in the dictionary.

I looked it up in the dictionary as soon as I felt something was wrong with your supposed "correction". Why else would I tell you to?

You like to defer back to opinions a lot, don't you? What's wrong, too insecure to base your arguments on something more concrete?

Are you mentally deficient or simply ignorant? No matter what you may think, the English language doesn't base its definitions on your opinions.

Good job on displaying the scope of your imbecility. It's a good thing that you looked up titration curves, but you obviously don't know what their function is. They're integral to the process of "STANDARDIZATION" of a chemical solvent. Does that word seem familiar? It would've been a concrete example to my argument, but I suppose it's wasted on someone with your intellectual incapacity.

1) I don't think a person who just tried to inform me that the "proper" way to type Google it was with a hyphen is qualified to label anyone a dork.

2) I don't think a person anal-retentive enough to lash out at a little girl for using the right word, offering the wrong one in exchange, trying to justify himself, failing at that and finally wimping out and stating that I can't argue with his opinions is qualified to suggest any sort of short-man complex in others.

Especially not from some dork people call Kiddo.

bedsoraroxas was right and you tried to incorrectly rectify her. Just admit it.

Crazee, thanks for the advice.

No, it's not over.

@Zero: (Last night you were arguing with ADHD Talon. Let's see how well you do against Talon with his meds still in affect.)

How about you let the woman speak for herself and stop trying to play hero? I'm not forcing her to use the term "generalization." If she disagreed from the beginning, I would have been fine with it.
This is why you're a jack-ass:

She wasn't being specific. And if you say standardization is like generalization except it deals with specifics, then you are wrong.
Generalization is a correct term because she never announced a specific goal. In addition, she admitted that she was joking. Joking is usually never specific to begin with.

And that isn't opinion, that's fact. You lose, go cry about it or are you going to tell me to look up something irrelevant to this debate on google?

bedsoraroxas
03-02-2007, 10:18 PM
HOKAY.

here's how it goes.

I am an ignorant 14-year-old who is not very good at expressing her emotions, thoughts, etc. I still think that I meant standardization because I want to build a regular drawing method that I'm good at. A standard style.

I was joking about the big words, hence the other words in that post that talked about my friends. . .etc.

I don't think Zero is trying to play hero at all. He's looking out for me because maybe he knows that kids like me don't know what is right. Also, I'm sure that he's picked up that I'm rather stupid. And besides, I think he's right.

No comment on the second bit.

Only you know what you mean to say, even if you don't know exactly how to say it. Anyone else can only inteurpret what you mean to say.
Even after this whole debate, if you still think you meant to say "standardize" then I'll believe you. It takes more than a definition to be a good artist. Where Zero may help you vocabulary-wise, I'm still the better choice in helping you achieve your goal.

See the other thread for list of your employed fallacies, you poor hypocrite.

And, wow, you seriously do not know what you are on about, do you?

Taken from Wikipedia entry on Fallacies:
"The term fallacy denotes any mistaken statement used in an argument. In logic, it specifically means an argument that violates the rules of formal demonstration."

None of the nonsense you quoted were arguments. (And half wasn't even directed at you, you pitiful reader.)

And! Even then, taking my quotes out of context, I don't see how you'd logically extract half of those conclusions.

GOOD JOB ON FAILING. =D

Where's my castration, dude? I thought you were going to be (omfg!) serious this time.

Personally, I'd like to see some more examples of your work, Bed (sorry if you prefer to go by a different shortened name), before any of us can really start commenting or giving advice on style.

We'll be able to see where you're consistent, the areas you struggle a little in, and all the rest of that jazz.

For those just tuning in, this would be me dragging the thread back on topic.
